BILLY ARVIDSON (1955 - )

The images of Billy Arvidson are inspired by tropical scenes of the Caribbean Islands, exploring the changing skies, tranquil beaches, hillsides and multicolored seas. He instills a relaxed and blissful mood into his images, evoking a sense of serenity. "As this world gets more and more stressful, I work harder to create relaxing and serene artwork."

Born in Manhattan in 1955, Arvidson has been painting and drawing since childhood. Best known for his unique use of pastels, he is also adept with oil and pencil. "My goal is to approach realism without losing the natural texture of pastel on paper. I enjoy working the pure pigments into the paper directly with my hands and fingers; it must be similar to the sensation a sculptor gets."

His works are included in many prestigious corporate collections including Liz Claiborne, Robbie Lynn, Bankers Trust, and Bloomingdale s. He maintains an art studio in Pelham, New York.
